ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 explores the world view of technology and its effects on human behavior, and the role and value of theatre and theatre artists in teaching and restoring collaborative skills in fields other than theatre (business, education, medicine). In the same way that ancient ritual taught people how to be human, theatre today preserves humanity, teaching us what it means to be human. The chapter examines the value of play in our lives, parenting and parent/child communication in the digital age, and the rise in bullying and cyber bullying. A call to action beyond the field of theatre to have balanced use of technology and preserve and nurture collaboration in society and community.
