Nuclear program muddles through

As the fi ssures in threat judgment between Iran and the United States were widening and multiplying in the 1960s, Tehran’s burgeoning and predominantly symbolic nuclear program was slowly inching forward. The lumbering gait of Iran’s nuclear program, however, received a major boost with Akbar Etemad’s return to Iran from Switzerland in June 1965.
