ABSTRACT

Introduction Land ownership can be separated into two constituent parts: legal ownership and equitable ownership. The legal owners hold the legal title to the property and so have the right to deal with the property at law, including the right to sell it. The equitable owners have the right to the benefit of the property: which they may receive by living in it, receiving rents from it and such like.
