ABSTRACT

All types of engineers use natural and common logarithms. In electrical engineering, a decibel scale is very useful for expressing attenuations in radio propagation and circuit gains, and logarithms are used for implementing arithmetic operations in digital circuits. Understanding and using logarithms and exponential functions are important in many branches of engineering. There are an enormous number of uses of trigonometry; fields that use trigonometry include astronomy and hence navigation, electrical engineering, music theory, electronics, medical imaging, number theory, oceanography, land surveying and geodesy, architecture, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer graphics and game development. It is clear that a good knowledge of trigonometry is essential in many fields of engineering. Graphs have a wide range of applications in engineering and in physical sciences because of their inherent simplicity. The ability to handle calculations involving circles and their properties is clearly essential in several branches of engineering design.
