You are so right to recognise in my conception of the superego, which expands on the conception formulated in Freud’s later work, and in my reflections on the insistence of Eros, my appreciation of Spinoza, and of a Spinozian perspective on the conduct of psychoanalysis and on the ethics on which our practice is founded.
