And, of course, the call for “enough” for future generations can also be spelt out in ways other than the satisfaction of needs and human rights. For example, one could call for making possible a “decent” human life, a life in human dignity, or a life that does not inspire pity (see Crisp 2003; Nussbaum 2006). These notions go beyond the bare minimum required to satisfy needs and protect human rights. However, when illustrating the suffi ciency requirement in what follows, we will base our arguments on the human rights threshold.
