ABSTRACT

In the Moroccan context, migration studies generally focus on emigration and on South-North immigrations, with a particular interest in irregular sub-Saharan populations. Thus, research on European migration to Morocco, which is not part of the Moroccan political agenda, is fairly recent and therefore little known (Berriane et al. 2010, 2013; Berriane and Janati, forthcoming; Bousta 2007; Escher and Petermann 2013; Picod-Kinany 2010; Therrien 2012, 2013, 2014, forthcoming; Virkama et al. 2012). However, this migratory phenomenon has recently started to significantly transform the Moroccan migratory landscape. At the end of 2013, according to the French Embassy in Morocco, 46,995 French citizens were officially registered as residents in Morocco.
