ABSTRACT

In macro photography, you are not as a rule shooting a high burst rate; therefore, you do not require very expensive cards with signi cantly high read and write speeds. However, this may well change in the not too

distant future as some manufactures such as Panasonic are using 4K video to extend depth of eld in an image. e Panasonic GH4 has what is termed a ‘4K Post Focus Mode’. When a short burst of video at 4K is made at 30 fps and the point of focus shifted throughout the sequence; this generates a stack of images which can then be combined to produce extended depth of eld. If you are shooting RAW, many of the les from current cameras are quite large and would naturally bene t from a relatively fast read and write speed. But this does not mean you have to purchase the state of the art card just for its transfer rate.
