ABSTRACT

Although supervision is a key component of applied work in many fields, discussion of supervision in applied sport psychology did not begin until the mid-1990s (Andersen, Van Raalte, & Brewer, 1994; 2000; Watson, Zizzi, Etzel, & Lubker, 2004). In 2014, Cremades and Tashman published the edited book Becoming a Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Professional: A Global Perspective, which included 16 chapters representing practitioners from four continents dealing directly with supervision of applied sport, exercise, and performance psychology. Over the course of two decades, the topic of supervision has grown from rare mention in the sport psychology literature to a solid stream of inquiry and discussion.
