ABSTRACT

The transition to a STEM instructional focus involves reaching and informing the many layers of the education community about the benefits of the transition as well as helping to address the mindsets of all who are involved-school board members, district administration, campus leadership, teachers, students, parents, community members, and business leaders-who will ultimately benefit from the shift. Teachers are the first string of implementers for STEM practices, and support is often required to help shift mindsets and instructional practices. To successfully transition into being an integrated STEM campus, the main focus should be on the teacher’s mindset. District and campus leadership will need to work together to put together the strategic plan and support system to accomplish this large first step.
