ABSTRACT
15.1.1 Portuguese verb forms consist of a stem and an ending, or inflection. While English verbs have few inflected forms (e.g. speak, speaks, speaking, spoke, spoken), Portuguese verbs have many more, according to the person (I, you, he, we, they, etc.), tense (present, past, future, etc.) and mood (indicative or subjunctive). The pattern of different inflected forms is called conjugation.
