ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to discuss pedagogy for creating form around user-generated content (UGC), to provide a road map to a more autonomous subfield of journalism called mojo. This neo-journalistic style of multimedia storytelling shifts the focus away from a technological determinist view to one that posits the importance of digital storytelling skills and reflectivity. A detailed explanation of how I teach mojo is provided in Mojo: The Mobile Journalism Handbook (see Appendix A). This chapter discusses issues related to mojo training and pedagogy and will

• Introduce a behavioral perspective that underpins my mojo praxis; • Investigate multimedia storytelling, specifically at secondary school; • Discuss how mojo might be introduced into the tertiary journalism cur-

riculum; and • Introduce various ethical issues that need further consideration.
