ABSTRACT
Although the human rights revolution is often pegged to the post–World War II period, arguably the real genesis for the human rights movement occurred over a century earlier with the international effort to eliminate slavery. What the following film depicts is the effort to abolish slavery in Great Britain—something that seemed absolutely preposterous when it was first proposed.
