ABSTRACT

When invited to India to lecture in October 2003, I was thrilled. But the timing of the trip was such that I could only be gone from Chicago for ten days. In this short span, I had agreed to present three lectures in Mumbai (Bombay) and three in Delhi. Given my hectic schedule there was almost no time for sightseeing, but on my last day in Delhi and my only free afternoon, while rushing from place to place, I asked that we visit Birla House, the site where Gandhi was shot.
