ABSTRACT

The future and the past related to ‘just now5 is time passing (‘backwards’ or ‘forwards’), not life changing (as in the case of now). I pass from one action to the other and nothing changes. More correctly, if something does change, this change is not caused by my passing from one action to the other. The life-rhythm is the rhythm of repetition. This is why the past and future related to it are only relative: I am going to school; I did so yesterday, and I shall do so tomorrow. The past related to ‘just now’ is therefore not time bygone. Similarly, the future related to ‘just now’ is therefore not ‘time to come’.
