ABSTRACT

Introduction Disorders of naming, which occur commonly following brain damage, may be elicited in a variety of tasks. These tasks include confrontation naming (e.g. naming an object or a picture); naming an item from a verbal description (e.g. ‘What is the thing you wear on your wrist and use to tell the time?’); and word-fl uency tests in which names are generated to a particular category (e.g. animal names).
