ABSTRACT

Geo-location analytics deals with mapping, visualizing, and mining the location of people, data, and other resources. Business, data-driven Geo-Location Analytics, deals with mapping, visualizing, and mining of location data to reveal patterns, trends, and relationships hidden in tabular business data. Social media location-based services are becoming a day-to-day reality. Organizations can harvest location data to recommend products, services, and social events to potential customers in real time as they approach certain localities. While location-based services bring ease, convenience, and safety to customers and value to businesses, they also raise serious privacy issues related to the collection, retention, use, and disclosure of location information. Locational data can be gathered with precise location up to a few feet with Bluetooth based transmitters and receivers. Social media and Location Analytics played a crucial role in expanding the bus routes and selection of the “Owl Bus” brand name. Geo-location data comes with a price—the vast erosion of the public’s privacy.
