ABSTRACT

Literature review methodology can be useful in a number of circumstances. Using literature review methodology is often an option for fulfilling the dissertation element of a programme of academic study. When a problem has been identified in practice, literature review methodology can be a useful part of the process of determining the best way to address the problem, or of finding a better or more effective way to work. Literature review can be a very useful methodological choice for completing the dissertation requirement for a programme of academic study, as it enables the existing evidence on a subject to be rigorously identified and evaluated. Using literature review methodology can be advantageous when a number of pieces of information about an aspect of practice exist, but where none of these, individually, presents sufficiently strong or conclusive evidence to merit action.
