The EU’s policy transfer to the post-Soviet space in a context of multiple infl uences: the case of migration

Migration is a core policy area in light of the objectives pursued by the European Union in its neighbourhood. In line with the objectives set in the Treaty of Amsterdam, 1 since the beginning of the last decade, the Union has increasingly sought to pursue its migration policy externally, especially at its borders. This is because neighbours play a crucial role in migration fl ows to the EU, either as countries of origin or transit countries.
