Introduction

In Egyptology, we boast about the status and privileges enjoyed by women in ancient Egypt. Egyptian women had greater freedoms and rights than their ancient Near Eastern, Greek and Roman counterparts. They were free to go out in public and engage in business. Women had their own independent standing in law and could own, inherit, and dispose of property.
