ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the various jobs and personnel that are involved in the production of television programs. It also describes the people who come into direct contact with the director/producer during the working phases of preproduction, production, and postproduction. The producers-executive producer, the series producer, line producer, or show runners-shepherd productions to completion. The line producer or show runner answers to the producer, executive producer, and production executive. However, if camera 3 were on line, it's expected that the camera person would not quickly pan to the next person to talk as soon as it happens; instead, the camera person would wait to lose the tally light and then pan. Stage managers are the director's representatives on the floor. They deal with four different groups: the production group, the stage and technical crews, the talent, and management. The postproduction sound mixer is responsible for the final audio for the production.
