ABSTRACT

The United States purchases more music products than any other country in the world. Second to the United States in the music purchasing market is the country of Japan, according to Ben Sisario of the New York Times. According to a polled survey of 30,000 online respondents in 60 countries, more than half of global consumers are willing to buy products online. The growth of online CPG (consumer packaged goods) sales has been driven in part by the maturation of digital natives, the consumers who grew up with digital technology. Millennials are at the beginning of their careers and are starting to form households, while the oldest members of Generation will soon be graduating college and joining the workforce. Releasing music or product in an international market requires planning. Simply releasing a digital music album or CD does not ensure economic benefit nor does it promise a beneficial and sustainable career in country.
