ABSTRACT

This chapter presents details of a range of different measures that have been developed to assess identity, health, and well-being. Multiple identity compatibility has recently been developed to investigate the issue of identity compatibility, with a view to understanding the impact not just of group membership but also the quality of relationships between groups. In social identity map, chapter likes to use different lines to show how easy or hard it is to be part of different groups at the same time. Crowds are not often seen as a typical social group, but seminal studies by Steve Reicher demonstrated that the same social identity and self-categorization principles that shape group behaviour also operate in large and novel crowd events. There are a range of health contexts in which it can be useful to measure people's perceptions of group norms in order to assess both the nature of these perceived norms and their impact on behaviour.
