ABSTRACT

Roma that are well-educated do not fit the negative stereotype that prevails among the majority population and therefore they can escape from the hostile stereotype by assimilating into the majority. In this way, they escape discrimination individually but the stereotype and the discrimination remains. There is a very simple strategy for dealing with pro-forms, which in no way disturbs the structure of our notes. Like the recall line, a line pointing back to a pro-form can also be taken to the next page without risking confusion. In fact, by their very nature, pro-forms will often occur quite some time later in the speech, and the interpreter may have to make the link between two things on different pages of notes.
