ABSTRACT
Many a pleasant evening passed away in the elegant and enlivened society of Mrs. Fanshaw and her sister, and of other families to whom they had the kindness to introduce our gentlemen; and to many a noble libation did the alderman/ invite them, though he did not entirely approve of their deserting his claret for the squalling of his girl: however, as he had always friends enough that were willing to sit as long as they could retain their seats, he was the more indulgent to our gentlemen, and permitted them to do as they pleased.
