ABSTRACT
This chapter presents conversations in the Mandarin Chinese language based on common daily situations with their English translations. English translation enables to follow Chinese more closely. Some of the sounds of Mandarin Chinese are so similar to English sounds, hence there is no difficulty for the learner. It presents a few vocabularies, grammar sections, speech patters in the Mandarin Chinese language with their appropriate English meanings along with examples. The Grammar part deals with Duration and progression, Proximity and remoteness. Speech pattern teaches about progressive aspect, continuous aspect, usage of directional complements. Main advantages of this chapter are clear grammar explanations, Pinyin Romanization is used throughout, and Chinese-English glossary for quick reference. Expansion Drills gives confidence in building up longer and longer sentences in Chinese and increases fluency at the same. The solid foundation of this chapter is to enhance Chinese language to people who wish to advance their language skills to higher levels.
