ABSTRACT

This chapter presents conversations in the Mandarin Chinese language based on common daily situations with their English translations. English translation enables to follow Chinese more closely. It presents few vocabularies and speech patterns in the Mandarin Chinese language with their appropriate English meanings along with examples. The chapter explains concepts such as Measure words (M) Standard measures of volume, weight, space, time, etc., and other kinds of measures shares the property of combining with numbers and demonstratives, so bracket classifiers are used. Numbers (NU), The numbers 1-10 are listed in the vocabulary, Pivotal constructions are discussed. The part/whole relationship, When part and whole are mentioned together the part follows as the immediate subject of the predicate. Expansion drills helps people in creating longer and longer sentences and increases fluency at the same time.
