ABSTRACT

An organization may simply commission an energy audit, act on some of its findings, and forget about energy management for the next few years. While this approach may achieve short-term savings, for lasting and increasing savings a strategic approach is required, and in today’s energy markets a long-term view is essential. For long-term effectiveness, energy management should be thought of as a continuing process, not as a single activity to be carried out once and then forgotten. With this in mind, in 2015 the UK government set up ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme), which is described in Chapter 7.
