ABSTRACT

Creative problem-solving (CPS) is the heart and distinguishing process in art, design, engineering and scientific applications; and provides the base foundation for the creativity-related experiments and exercises. CPS is the arena for object-learning through play; entering into the unknown, using a majority of the senses to discover novelty and innovation in product development. This exploration of CPS forms the basis for the incorporation of play as a catalyst in information evaluation, idea generation and product evaluation. Analytical Learning through Gaming Analytical learning through the intellect is a key component of CPS as the evaluation factor in assessing ideas and concepts as they emerge from the larger process. This component consists of information processing (IP), evaluation and calculation, often using gaming means and methods. The studio environment provides a place and opportunity to display context information and physical conditions for constant observation, play and experimentation.
