ABSTRACT

Currently, U.S. education policy is directed at preparing students to fit into the culture of multinational corporations. In this case, deculturalization, the attempt to change one culture into another, refers to changing a student’s cultural background to meet the needs of multinational businesses. Of course, a student’s cultural background might already fit a corporate life. However, some economists, as I discuss in this chapter, believe that schools, particularly preschools, should change a student’s culture to increase the possibilities of economic success.
