ABSTRACT
Public servants, as representatives of the public interest in a democratic system, are tasked with acting tastefully, thus applying their sense of discretionary judgment and making sensible decisions. Professional public servants have the added importance of serving the public while playing a role in the central administration. It is therefore their role, within the limit of their authority and when necessary, to bridge these two worlds sensibly and tastefully.
