ABSTRACT

The successful application of ergonomic principles should result in individuals carrying out only those tasks which pose no threat to their long-term physical and mental wellbeing and which allow recovery, in risk terms, when the inevitable unreliability occurs. However, it should be remembered that these principles will only be effective within their defined system. An ergonomically designed chair is likely to result in less fatigue and strain during keyboard work and contribute to the reliability of this work. However, an ergonomically designed chair is still not a good platform for retrieving objects from high shelves!
