ABSTRACT
The city of Oruro, the fifth city of Bolivia, planted in the highlands at almost 4000 m of altitude, sits quietly most of the year by the side of the mineral-rich mountain that promoted its foundation in 1606 as a Spanish colonial mining settlement.
