ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the different types of educational settings in England. It provides how education policy is formed and how leaders implement it in different sectors of education. The chapter explains what the drivers are in developing education policy. It describes the role of leadership and governors in addressing the impact of education policy in different school types. Different types of educational settings will use different strategies to develop policies related to their specific context reflecting global and local trends, the megatrends. Leadership in education is about all staff and governors offering a clear route map to improve educational outcomes for learners. The world of education is changing rapidly, and with it, a new world is emerging for leaders, practitioners and school governance. The megatrend needs to be managed effectively by leaders developing a global culture in educational contexts through teaching and learning about technological globalisation, economic globalisation, demographic globalisation and political globalisation.
