ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how educational organisations have changed and some of the challenges they face. It describes the role of different multi-agency staff supporting these educational settings. The chapter provides how different strategies are used by leaders in change management. One of the main changes now is an increase in multi-academy trusts (MATs) with formal arrangements for partnerships and collaborations involving academies. The role of Local Authorities (LA) has changed dramatically since 2000, and currently they have limited relationships with schools, thus necessitating innovative ways of working with new structures, policies and models of practice. The dilemma many multi-agency partnerships come across on many occasions is 'barriers' – to communication, developing trust, relationship building etc., and how to coordinate services effectively enough to break those barriers down. Some of the barriers to effective, collaborative working are: communication; training; and working as a partnership/team.
