ABSTRACT

Most sounds are heard in an acoustic environment of some description, such as in a living room, an office, a concert hall, or outside. It is often desirable to be able to apply an acoustic effect that is different from where a sound was originally recorded. In particular, reverberation and echo effects are widely used to change the perceived sonic character from the actual recording space (such as an acoustically-controlled studio environment) to a virtual space that is more acoustically reflective or live.
