ABSTRACT

In the government the author conducts what are called After Action Reviews following any significant operation. In social studies we will be launching young students out into the community to identify their own problematic situations and figure out how to solve them. Early documents from faculty planning reveal their concern for four major elements: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Communications. In analyzing students' responses we can identify those who have a rather limited understanding of how to effect change in the community, one of the major curricular themes of Tim's course. Tim concluded that his students had improved in the important areas of problem solving, critical thinking and learning how to manage time, resources and public speaking. Solve different kinds of non-familiar problems in both conventional and innovative ways. Identify and ask significant questions that clarify various points of view and lead to better solutions.
