ABSTRACT

Working capital is one of the critical inputs for the operation of an organization. The companies and sectors have been selected to have a wider representation. Most of these companies are major conglomerates or top companies in their sector. A correlation analysis has also been done to find out the relationship between working capital and profitability of companies. Infosys, one of the IT sector follows no debt policy. Human capital is the main capital of IT sector; therefore, there is a less chance of having huge debts. Working capital trend of NTPC maintains the same working capital as Infosys. Reduction in current ratio shows that the liabilities have increased more than assets. Coal India Ltd is countries largest coal producer and supplier. It has maintained the same working capital with reducing current ratio, meaning increasing scale of operations. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd is expanding rapidly. It has a very high correlation coefficient between WC and PAT.
