ABSTRACT

Communication, media, literary, historical, anthropological, sociological, and philosophical studies, the core scholarly sites for studying culture, have marginal sub-disciplines, environmental communication and criticism, which analyze how texts explain the transnational risks of climate change. Their primary focus is on science and environmental reporting, other fictional and non-fictional forms of media representations of non-human nature, climate change, and related economic and cultural matters, including the influence these media have on public awareness of ecosystem processes and environmental problems. One hopes that the most abiding legacy of green politics and theory will be the development and installation of the precautionary principle into everyday life and policymaking. Cultural policy in Hollywood has been captured by the industry, with studios, producers' organizations, trade organizations, and other private entities involved in greening production practices. These actions are meant to substitute for independent policy oversight.
