ABSTRACT

Artists live and die, artistic movements rise and fade, yet the artistry of prior generations continues to engage our sensibilities in ever new and interesting ways. In considering this longevity, one could easily be forgiven for assuming that an artist’s enduring capacity to affect our senses is closely related to the medium of presentation of her/his artworks. The painter’s canvas, the sculptor’s monument, the composer’s score, the author’s publication: these are media that stand the test of time.
