ABSTRACT
Dangerous substances can be categorised in many ways. When discussing or describing them in health and safety terms, they are categorised according to the type of harm they can cause. Many can fall into more than one category. Some can cause harm after a single exposure or incident, others may have long-term effects on the body following repeated exposure.
