ABSTRACT
Mechanical handling techniques have improved efficiency and safety, but have introduced other sources of potential injury into the workplace. Cranes, powered industrial trucks and fork-lifts, and conveyors are the primary means for mechanical handling. In all circumstances, the safety of the equipment can be affected by operating conditions, workplace hazards and the operator.
