On the Nature of Truth [1907]

The position which I have been trying to represent is always considered, by those who hold it, a very difficult one to apprehend; so much so that the word “crude” has been consecrated to those arguments and philosophies which do not accept this position. As I believe that the more20 “crude” a philosophy is, the nearer it comes to being true, I cannot hope to persuade idealists that I have understood their position; I can only assure them that I have done my best.
