ABSTRACT

This chapter examines several specific nonverbal contexts of concern and is divided into four main contexts: medical contexts, legal settings, built environments, and virtual places.

We are in an age in which U.S. citizens are living longer. As a result, health care has become an increasingly important issue. The Clintons, especially Hillary as first lady and in her bid in 2008 to be president, have placed the health care concern as their centerpiece in their political platform. Thus, health care contexts are of great importance, especially to the nonverbal communication scholar.
