ABSTRACT
The face has long been a primary source of information in interpersonal communication. It is an instrument of great importance in the transmission of meaning. Within a matter of seconds, facial expressions can move us to the heights of ecstasy or the depths of despair. We study the faces of friends and associates for subtle changes and nuances in meaning, and they in turn study our faces.
