ABSTRACT

Eye behaviors clearly stand out as one of the primary nonverbal features in our human interaction. Oftentimes, eyes are the mirror of the soul, and can often reveal the true nature of the self.

Recently, Texas Hold’em poker has become a cultural phenomenon. Found on about every TV channel and on every neighborhood corner, individuals are becoming increasingly interested in playing this table game. One of the key strategies in the game of poker is being able to disguise one’s true poker hand. This is usually done by the player who can successfully manage his or her eye behaviors. Often, poker professionals on TV will be seen wearing sunglasses while playing at the table. There is no doubt as to why this behavior is done-to hide their eye behaviors, which might reveal or “give away” their hand to their opponents.
