ABSTRACT
Generally acknowledged as one of America’s greatest presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt placed morality on the center stage of presidential leadership. Roosevelt understood that moral storm clouds hang over every major presidential decision. As people and groups fight to define what is moral and right for the family, art, education, law, domestic politics, economics, and foreign policy, presidents daily confront division and discontent about definitions of the morally acceptable.
