ABSTRACT
The California legislature plays a vital role in the government and politics of the state. Its members, as lawmakers, represent local views at the state level and are constantly engaged in mediating conflicts and reconciling pressures from competing special-interest groups. It is important to understand how well these lawmakers represent and carry out the will of the citizens of California.
