ABSTRACT
The term evolution literally means “unfolding.” For our purposes, the term refers to the development of populations of living organisms and the changes in their form with time. This change refers to populations, not individuals. Individuals grow and develop, age and die, but they do not evolve. It is change that occurs over generations, not within a single lifetime, that defines the evolution of a population of living organisms.
