ASSIGNMENT Divide your class into groups for what is called a “long table debate.”1 Here’s how it works. One group will take the affirmative side of a controversial proposition, and the other group will take the negative. Each person will give a three to five minute speech for his or her side, alternating sides until everyone has spoken. Listen carefully to the opposing speaker who goes just before you, and respond to what he or she says.
